China has an estimated number of 370 battle force ships to the US’s 296 (US has 11 aircraft carriers to China’s 3). China’s total fleet displacement is about half but their ship building capacity is significantly higher. They are generally ranked second today behind the US and have been there since the last 2010s when they overtook Russia. They’ve been number 3 since 1987.
