If they could make money by selling new copies of Windows I’m sure they would. But they ran out of ideas with Windows 7. Since there’s no reason to buy a new copy of Windows, MS needs to turn their customers into a recurring revenue stream.
I wonder if they fired everybody creative a couple years ago while CPUs were stagnant, leaving them in a rough spot to respond now that things are doing ok (I mean we’ll never have 199X-200X again, but there’s competition again at least).
