You know that most consoles are sold below cost, with the expectation that the difference will be made up in the premiums on games, right?


Not necessarily premiums. The manufacturers make their money back just by taking a percentage of all the (digital) sales. That's why even the Steam Deck can be sold so cheap, without a premium on games. They can make up the difference with just more sales because you now have a device you'll use more.
