Don't managers have enough work on their plate already? Looking at my past and current worplaces (granted, none of them are Meta), I can't imagine juggling individual contributions and managerial responsibilities.
Personally, I think a manager's job (in a healthy organization) is important enough to let them of the hook in terms of individual contributions.
