I did the Georgia Tech OMSCS, and this was similar to my study strategy.

I'd watch the lecture videos 4 times total:

- Once at normal speed, without taking notes.

- Once at 1.5 or 2x speed (depending on lecturer) to take notes.

- Then I'd do a 2x speed run of all of the content before midterms and finals.

I felt like it worked really well, and even years later I feel I've retained a ton of what I learned.
